Please join us as we celebrate the efforts of Historic Wilmington Foundation and supporters to preserve and protect the irreplaceable historic resources of the Lower Cape Fear Region over the last 50 years and in to the future!

We are excited to have North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources Secretary Susi Hamilton as our keynote speaker for the afternoon!

Ms. Hamilton is the ninth secretary of the N.C. Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.  A former N.C. State Representative, former Historic Wilmington Foundation board member and long-time advocate for preserving Wilmington’s historic neighborhoods, the Secretary holds a unique perspective on historic preservation in our region.

Secretary Hamilton holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from UNC-Wilmington and a Bachelor of Arts in History from UNC-Chapel Hill. Her first job out of college was with the State Historic Preservation Office as a National Register assistant. That position led her back to Wilmington where she served as a senior planner in the Long Range Planning Division for the city. She later accepted a position as executive director of Wilmington Downtown, Inc where she led the effort to redevelop the downtown by encouraging and facilitating investment in real estate and by recruiting new businesses and job opportunities.

She and her husband Steve live in downtown Wilmington with their daughter Parker.

The name Beverly Tetterton has been synonymous with local history for the past three decades.  An author, historian, and preservationist, she was a New Hanover County librarian for over 30 years, with much of that time spent in the North Carolina Room.  While there, she helped bring the library into the digital age by creating, and winning awards for, multiple digital archives, including Port City Architecture a database of plaqued historic homes in Wilmington.  Beverly has served on Historic Wilmington Foundation’s Board of Trustees and has lead our Plaque Committee for over 30 years.
