Revolving Fund and Easements
Historic Wilmington Foundation has employed a revolving fund since 1967 to save and protect buildings through purchase, short term loans and loan guarantees. When the Foundation purchases or lends to a property, the goal is to acquire an easement before the loan is made or the building is sold. In the spring of 2012 the Foundation made a revolving fund loan to the Wilmington Children’s Museum for critically needed roof repair. The Children’s Museum reciprocated with the donation of a building easement. The HWF also occasionally uses its IG40 funds to make small grants to help protect buildings. Contact the Executive Director for information about the Revolving Fund and Easements programs.
The Foundation published Rescue Restore Renew in 2002 which recounted the impressive number of projects the organization completed during its first 35 years. Copies are still available by contacting us at 910.762.2511.
