Office Help/Bulk Mailing Volunteers assist the staff with answering
phones and providing information to interested callers or visitors, faxing
press releases, making phone calls and data entry. Volunteers help staff to
design invitations and flyers, assist with bulk mailings, and help distribute
posters and other PR materials to area businesses.
Home Tour Docents Help manage a house on the spring HWF House Tour, which is an event of the Azalea Festival. Greet/direct visitors, collect/check tickets in a house during the tour.
PR & Newsletter Volunteers help design invitations & flyers, create PR campaigns, distribute PR materials in the area, research & write articles for the newsletter, serve as editor.
5K Run The annual 5K Run for Preservation takes place each September. We need
many volunteers to help us out on the day of the race and to serve on the 5K Run
Committee.
Gala/Special Events Our largest fundraising event is our annual Gala and Auction.
The Gala takes place in the Fall at an historic site. Volunteers are needed to
serve on the gala committee (on a range of subcommittees ranging from invitations
to decorations) and to help set up, staff the event and clean up during this
busy time of year. We have many others events that we need help with too!
Photography Volunteers take pictures for HWF presentations, publications and archives. It is helpful if volunteers have their own camera.
Committees Membership, Urban Properties, Plaque Program, Education and Repair Affair all need your help.
Walking Tours - in development We are looking for volunteers to establish tours and we need
your help in running them. With a complete, comprehensive training program
volunteers will be asked to schedule and lead architectural tours in historic
Wilmington.
Wilmington Architectural Salvage (Currently not available, when we reopen we will need volunteers.) Volunteers help run our salvage store every Saturday from 9-1.
